THE RESTED - RESTORE LOST VOLUME TO THE UNDER-EYES

At Contour Collection, we believe in the power of aesthetic enhancements to bring out the inherent beauty in every individual. Today, we're excited to talk about "The Rested" – an under-eye filler procedure that goes beyond just addressing fine lines and wrinkles to reveal a revitalized, well-rested appearance.

FIRST THINGS FIRST, WHAT CAUSES TIRED-LOOKING EYES?

Various factors contribute to the appearance of tired-looking eyes. Hyperpigmentation, for instance, can impart a darker tone to the skin beneath the eyes. Superficial veins are another potential culprit.

However, more often than not, the tired appearance in our eyes stems from volume loss in a specific region known as the tear trough. When there's a depletion or absence of volume in this area, it creates a hollow or groove under the eyes. This hollow space not only deflects light but also casts shadows on the skin, resulting in dark under-eye shadows that can make us appear fatigued. It's this volume loss in the tear trough that often plays a significant role in the overall tired look of the eyes, hence, why under-eye filler is so popular!

WHAT IS "THE RESTED"?

Since the under-eye area is often the first to show signs of fatigue, stress, and aging, we created "The Rested", which is an under-eye filler treatment to restore lost volume. This treatment involves a hyaluronic acid injection, we use Restylane Eyelight, to improve the appearance of dark, hollow, or tired looking under-eyes. Results can be seen immediately and it's a client-favorite for it's ability to create a younger, fresher, revitalized appearance. But it's important to note that not everyone is a candidate for under-eye filler. Read on to learn all the in's and out's of under-filler.

PRP INJECTIONS VS. UNDER-EYE FILLER:

We recently shared a blog post on PRP under-eye injections, which is another popular treatment for under-eye rejuvenation. However there are some important differences between the two treatments.

Both PRP injections and under-eye filler contribute to achieving a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. However, the key distinction between the two lies in their impact on volume. PRP primarily focuses on enhancing brightness and skin quality but doesn't address volume loss. On the other hand, under-eye filler is specifically designed to restore lost volume, making it an ideal choice if hollowness is your primary concern.

What's even more exciting is the option to combine these treatments strategically. Starting with a series of PRP injections can improve skin quality and enhance brightness. Then, complementing this with under-eye filler can provide that extra volume you desire. This comprehensive approach is our recommended strategy for revitalizing the under-eye area, addressing both texture, brightness and volume concerns effectively.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR UNDER-EYE INJECTIONS?

Just like most facial injections, the primary side effects typically involve bruising and swelling, which is why it's crucial to steer clear of any blood-thinning medications. We recommend that our clients refrain from taking medications and supplements known to thin the blood, including aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, vitamin E, and fish oil, for at least 7 days before their scheduled appointment. It's worth noting that alcohol, too, can contribute to blood thinning, so you might consider skipping any happy hours in the days leading up to your treatment for optimal results.

WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE LIKE?

Getting under-eye filler isn't as daunting as it may seem. The process typically begins with an ultrasound examination followed by the application of a topical numbing cream. After allowing about 15 minutes for the numbing cream to take effect, the actual injection follows. The entire procedure usually spans 30-45 minutes, depending on the specific under-eye requirements of the client.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FOLLOWING TREATMENT?

As previously mentioned, the primary concerns with under-eye filler are bruising and swelling, although these occurrences are typically manageable. It's advisable to avoid positions or exercises where their head is below their waist for the initial 48 hours, as this aids in minimizing swelling and bruising.

While significant bruising is not the norm, it can be more challenging to conceal and may take 10-14 days for some individuals before they feel comfortable being around others who they wouldn't want to know about the procedure.

As for downtime, most people can resume their normal activities the next day, following some simple aftercare instructions provided by our professionals. It’s important to note that you want to minimize exercise for the first 48 hours to reduce the risk of further swelling or bruising.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The rested costs $700.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I'M A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR UNDER-EYE FILLER?

It's important to note that under-eye filler is not suitable for everyone. We recommend scheduling a complimentary consultation with one of our experienced Practitioners to assess your under-eyes to determine if you are a good candidate.

WHY WE LOVE IT:

  • Reduces the appearance of dark circles

  • Restores lost volume and improves under-eye hollows

  • Firms and tightens loose skin

  • Long-lasting results
